I want to put lowering springs in what do I need to know.?

Just got a 93 Civic Si and I want lowering springs.

Do I need to change the struts or something? Shocks?

Or do I just swap the old coils with the new lowering coils..
I want to put lowering springs in what do I need to know.?
Pull the struts out the fronts have two bolts up top and a fork on the bottom that need to come off pull the whole strut out go to autozone and loan out a set if spring compressors compress the springs pull the top nut on the strut you need an allen wrench an a 14mm wrench with the spring still compressed pull the spring off the strut( if replacing with lowing spring you may need to compress new coil if replacing with coil overs no need to compress new spring)ok now to the rear two bolts up top in the trunk on the bottom DONT pull the strut bolt instead pull the whole controll arm its two bolts left and right and pull the strut straight down and repeat process from front you need 17mm wrench a 14mm wrench an allen wrench to complete job very easy to do but i always start with rear first incase i cant get the strut off the fronts always come off... GOOD LUCK

with the car being so old if the struts havent been replaced in awhile the new springs will blow them out becasue they are engineered to handle the stock spring that came with them. if you want to do it right buy a complete coilover kit and istall them. good ones are tokicos tein eibach bilstein. and dont forget the camber kit. some states will fail you on inspection if you dont have a camber kit with a lowering kit
well if you just want the car to be lower then all you have to do is install the lowering springs. swap out the stock ones and replace them with the after market ones you get.

but if you actually want better handling your going to need a whole new suspension, i.e. coil overs or springs and shocks, strut tower and dampers.
