the ride has always been rough, and i was wondering if i could possibly change both struts to make it more comfortable. like an SUV. Where would i go about looking to buy and have it done, and what are the good brands for these comfortable struts? If possible, include estimates. Thanks. 4x2 tacoma

Replace both front axels. Not too bad, about $100.00 each

Could be a couple hundred with parts and labor. Fix the struts because the damage can continue to other parts. They hold up the vehicle and you're talking about an SUV. Get the work done immediately before you wind up with more expensive problems.
If you have a Tacoma, IT AIN'T gonna ride like a car without some good suspension work,
That isn't why you bought the thing!!!
Spring rates need to be softened up, softer shocks too front and rear, THEN you can't use like a truck with out suffering load capisity problems.
Might be cheaper to locate a used compact car and buy it for those times you want to save your butt and gas $$
