How do you change the struts on a '95 dodge neon?

You guys are scaring me. Neither one of you knows what you are talking about. On a Neon, it's a matter of unbolting the top and bottom bolts holding the struts in and taking them out. it's relatively simple. There's no disconnecting calipers and all that other crap. But replacing struts on a car is dangerous because you need to compress a bigazz spring that's under a lot of pressure. You need a strut spring compressor and enough equipment to get the car off the ground at least one wheel at a time. Spring compressors are not cheap, either. If you get one of those cheap-azz compressors from Pep Boys you're liable to hurt yourself when the thing lets loose. Replacing struts on any car requires more tools than you have in your tool box. It will cost you about 700 bucks to have them replaced on your Neon, and the struts themselves are going to cost you over 500 bucks. You'll spend well over 200 bucks in tools and headaches even if you are successful. You'll also need to get some cars aligned after you replace the struts, but not all. There's a lot of things you can do to your car to save money. Brakes, oil changes, rotating your own tires, changing belts, that kind of thing. But don't mess with struts.

You're going to need a pair of ramps to get the Neon up high enough to slide underneath to take out the old struts and to install the new ones! After that it's just 3-bolts for each side! Use the ramps safely and block the wheels!

I think rense is messing with you. You cant have the wheels on ramps because you have to remove them. Before you put it in the air, remove the hubcaps and break free both axel nuts and remove them, unless you have air tools, Jack up both sides and put jackstands under it to hold it up. never work under a vehicle with a jack. remove the tires, calipers, caliper holder, take brake hoses off the strut body, remove the rotor. Remove the lower ball joint retaining nut. I fyou have a small piece of chain ( longer than 8%26quot;) loop it around the lower control arm and put a prybar or pipe through it and push down to remove the lower ball joint from the strut housing. pull the strut out towarrd you and push the axel out of the hub. Unbolt the strut from the towerUsually 3 bolts under the hood. Rent a spring compressor from most any auto parts store and remove the spring. be careful and use caution. replace the strut put it all back together. Ps you do not have to open the brake lines just pull of the retaining clip or unbolt the bracket from the strut body
