Can you change the struts in a 98 mazda 626 without a spring compressor?

I need to change the struts in my Mazda 626...do i really need a spring compressor to do the job?

It's never happened yet. If you try to release the center strut bolt the strut bearing and spring would tear your face off or kill someone else!

yes you need a spring compressor, the spring are under extreme pressure, the only way to change the strut without a compressor is to replace them with a quick strut, they come with new springs, mount, ect. put together
Get a spring compressor unless you want the spring to jump across the street and kill sombody when you undo the mounting nuts.
No you can't but if you didn't want to buy a spring compressor you can rent them.
