I have a 1996 Oldsmobile Shiloutte van and I was told that the struts need to be replaced. What would the approximate cost be if I took it to a reputable mechanic?

Best guess would be 6 to 8 hundred dollars. But why do you need struts... usually you only need them if you have a lot of miles on the car or you live in the country where there are very rough roads. That鈥檚 not to say I am completely correct, but close enough I would get another opinion. Maybe I should ask, who told you they need to be replaced?
