How do you know when your strut are bad?

i drive an 02 pontiac bonneville sle,,,i had the front struts and mounts changed 20k miles ago and currrently has 53k in total but the ride seems hard and uncomfortable
How do you know when your strut are bad?
A firm ride is an indication for good struts, worn struts will cause the car to bounce a lot. You had struts replaced at 33,000 miles? that is extremely early.....most time they dont even start getting recommended until around 60k, but replacing your struts will not make the ride less %26quot;hard%26quot; The main purpose of the struts is to keep the tires firmly planted on the Ground while going over bumps (which decreases distance it takes to stop the car and also the less up and down movement of the suspension means the less wear on your front end parts and tires), not necessarily to give the car a comfortable ride. Good luck
How do you know when your strut are bad?
If the tires are wearing in a wavy pattern, in other words, if there are hills and valleys as the tires spin, the struts are going. Means they aren't doing their job keeping the wheels from bouncing so much over the road surface when you go over surfaces that aren't super smooth.
How to know that your struts are not struting their stuff.

You bounce one corner of the car very hard up %26amp; down, let go and it should only bounce one and a half more times.

and no more.If it does not bounce easy they may be sticking or collapsed.

Check the air pressure in the front tires, may be to much.

About 32 psi cold
