WHEN CHANGING STRUTS DO I CHANGE THE COIL TOO?

my car is a nissan maxima 96 with 185,000 miles on it, the struts and coil spring haven%26#039;t been changed and i really need new struts should i just buy the struts or buy a coil spring too???

when i get higher than 50 mph on my passenger side i can hear and feel rattling so i guess i should or what do you all think???|||If the springs don%26#039;t cost much I%26#039;d replace them at the same time as the struts since they have to compress the springs to replace the struts. It%26#039;s seems it%26#039;s always the labor part that costs the most.|||check spring for sag [measure length uncompressed] compare to specification. Replace both if either out of spec.|||Age and usage, maybe.springs are steel likley to be good.struts only on the cheap.A better job struts and springs = better handling and traction, certainly in snow conditions.|||You do not need to change the coil springs unless they are collapsed, and that is unlikely, and if you have a rattle check the strut mount bolts and nuts to make sure they are tight, they are located under the hood, there should be three bolts sticking up through the fender well with nuts on them, make sure they are tight.
