any advice greatly appreciated. we bought 2 front strut assemblies for a 95 eagle vision. we will have the spring compressor.|||Jack up your car then remove the nut off the bolt on the bottom of the strutt but don%26#039;t remove the bolt just yet..now take another jack and push up on the lower control arm that the strutt is mounted on till you can move the bolt freely..now remove the bolt and then go under the hood and remove the nut from the top of the old strutt..then let the jack down slowly till the strutt can be removed safely ..now put the new strutt on by putting up into the hole and replace the nut under the hood..now put the strutt in the space it goes on the control arm and jack up the control arm till you can put the bolt through..and put the nut on..with doing it this way you don%26#039;t need a spring compressor..and it is very safe.i%26#039;ve done many many strutts using this technic..and i%26#039;ve never had one problem..have fun my friend.|||whatch your fingers other than that you got it|||You will find that the bolt holes are slotted instead of round. That is for wheel alignment ajustment. Draw the outline of the holes and the exterior of the strut with a sharp tool to make sure you re-install exactly at the same spot. Afterwards monitor your tire wear for a while to make sur the alingment is still good.|||Excellent advice from frigon_p. You might still want to have your front end alignment checked afterwards.
The biggest factor is safety. Make sure the car is supported securely on stands and be very sure that the spring compressor is installed on the strut spring correctly. If that spring gets loose, it can certainly hurt or kill anyone in the way. A Haynes manual would help quite a bit.|||i own a repair shop and your getting ready to do a really dangerous job if you have a cheap made spring compressor and it slips on the spring that thing can take a limb off if its under enough pressure,that really not a job i recommend the average mechanic try and do,but if you are going to try and do this remove the whole assembly off the car and do it this way ,and be careful,good luck with it.|||Wear eye protection.
