Can the shocks on a 99 avalon be replaced with out changing the struts on the front?

the shock is part of the strut, but yes you can change just the shock within the strut, you%26#039;ll need a special tool to do it so you don%26#039;t kill yourself though, a lot of do it your self types find it cheaper to just replace the whole strut as the tool can be quite expensive, and if your taking it to a shop that doesn%26#039;t have the tool and they want to replace the whole strut, you may want to find another shop.|||Of course.|||Yes they can. If nothing is wrong with the struts. Why replace them ? Everybody will tell you to do both at the same time for one reason or the other. But I have seen it happen and it is not that bad.
